Day 1 – ISTANBUL / BURSA

Upon arrival at Istanbul in the morning. Meet and drive to the 'Old City'. After lunch we will visit the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, famous for its delicate blue ceramic tiles. Saint Sophia, this church - turned mosque - turned museum takes the breath away with the sheer architectural size of its interior and magnificent dome. Afternoon we drive to embark ferry boat to Yalova. Later we proceed to Bursa for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 - BURSA / THYATIRA / SARDIS / LAODICEA / PAMUKKALE

After breakfast drive to Pamukkale. We will stop by Thyteria to see the remains of the church. This was one of the principle towns where Christianity spread quickly. Then we will drive to Sardis whose history dates back to 12th century B.C. Sardis felt the influence of Christianity very early and was included in the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse. During the Byzantine times it was the seat of a bishopric. Highlights will be a Synagogue, Gymnasium, Byzantine Church and the Temple of Artemis. Next on our itinerary is Philadelphia which was an important Christian centre during Byzantine times. Last stop Laodicea where we find here two Theaters, a large Stadium, a Water Tower and an Odeon. The city is named by Antiochus II in honor of his wife, Laodicea. St. Paul wrote a letter to the church here (Acts:4:16). Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale.

During the Byzantine period, the city became the seat of diocese with a large Christian Church dedicated to St Philip, who was martyred there in 80 AD. Highlights include the Roman Baths, , the Theatre and the famous white calcium cascades of Pamukkale (the white “Cotton Castles”). Then drive to Selcuk town, we will visit the famous ancient city of Ephesus, one of the world’s finest archaeological sites. Highlights include the Library of Celcius, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan and the Theatre. We will also stop by the House of Virgin Mary (on top of Mt Coressos). She was believed to have spent her last years in this area. On 18 August 1961, Pope John XXII proclaimed this place to be sacred. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.

Upon arrival at Istanbul in the morning. Meet at the airport and we drive to embark ferry boat to Yalova. Drive to Iznik, formerly known as Nicea. The city was founded around 1000 BC. In 325 AD, the First Ecumenical Council was held here for the purpose of condemning the heresy of Arianism. The Seventh Ecumenical Council was also held here in the St Sophia Church, which we will visit. The church was built in the 4th century and has a mosaic floor which dates to the 6th century. All gates and walls date from the Byzantine times. Later we proceed to Bursa for dinner and overnight.

Early in the morning transfer to Izmir Airport for domestic flight to Istanbul. Transfer to the 'Old City'. Saint Sophia, this church - turned mosque - turned museum takes the breath away with the sheer architectural size of its interior and magnificent dome. Last stop will be Grand Bazaar. Dinner and overnight in Istanbul.

Among the impressive structures of this city, dating from 399 B.C., we will see the Altar of Zeus, Temple of Dionysus and the 200,000 volume library which was surpassed only by that found in Alexandria at the time. The Asclepieum of Pergamon was a famous health centre where methods of treatment included blood transfusions, music therapy and meditation. Drive to Kusadasi for overnight.

Our tour will begin with the Basilica of St John “the Evangelist” who came here with the Virgin Mary and wrote his Gospel in Ephesus then drive to Selcuk town, to visit the famous ancient city of Ephesus, one of the world’s finest archaeological sites. Highlights include the Library of Celcius, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan and the Theatre. We will also stop by the House of Virgin Mary (on top of Mt Coressos). Synagogue, Gymnasium, House of Bronzes, Temple of Artemis, and of course the Church. Next on our itinerary is Philadelphia which was an important Christian centre during Byzantine times. Built on one of the seven hills of Istanbul, this huge complex commands views of the Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. It was the seat of government for the Ottoman Empire for many centuries (1453-1852) and we will see the extravagant Treasury, the priceless Chinese porcelain. Transfer to the airport for international flight.

Day 1 - ISTANBUL

Upon arrival at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, meet and drive to “Old City” from where the Byzantian and Ottoman Empires were ruled. Hippodrome, center of sportive (chariot races, athletics) events and political activities of the old city. Obelisk of Theodosius, Serpentine Column and German Fountain of Wilhelm II are the monuments decorating Hippodrome. Blue Mosque, facing St. Sophia, famous with its blue Iznik tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet. St. Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, constructed as a basilica in the 6th.century by Emperor Justinian. Then visit the Underground Cistern. We proceed to the pier to board on a private boat for the Bosphorus Cruise, through the waterway separating the two continents, Asia and Europe, with a possibility to take photographs of marble palaces, ancient wooden villas of Ottoman architecture besides modern residential and luxurious apartments. Then check-in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Istanbul.

Day 6 - KUSADASI / DIDYMA / MILETUS / PRIENE / IZMIR

After breakfast check-out from the hotel. Drive to Didyma served as a religious sanctuary to god Apollo. Oracular inscriptions in Didyma indicate dates as far back as 6th cent.B.C. Legend tells us that with the arrival of Alexander the Great, the sacred spring of the Temple which had dried up began to flow again. Highlights will be the Temple of Apollo. Then we will visit Miletus whose history dates back to 800 B.C. Famous Philosopher Thales comes from Miletus and he is credited with the theory that all things come from water. Highlights here are the Theater, Baths of Faustina and the Council Chamber. Next on our itinerary is Priene with its well planned streets and graceful buildings and temples. Highlights will be the Agora, the Ecclesiasterium and the Temple of Athena Polias. In the eveninig transfer to Izmir airport for flight to Istanbul and connection international flight.

Day 5 - KUSADASI / PATMOS ISLAND / KUSADASI

Early morning, we embark on a chartered boat for a 3 hrs ride to Patmos Island. The local guide will meet us at the port and then drive up to the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist, where we have a wonderful view of the island. We also visit the Grotto of the Revelation where the heavenly voice of God revealed to St. John the future of humanity (Rev. 1:12-21). Return to the port in the late afternoon to board our ferry back to Kusadasi.

After breakfast drive to Izmir and visit Church of Smyra. Then we drive to the hauntingly beautiful Pergamon. After breakfast we proceed to Troy to see the legendary city and the replica of the Trojan Horse. Then drive to Istanbul. Dinner and overnight in Istanbul.

Day 8 – ISTANBUL DEPARTURE

After breakfast check-out from the hotel, we drive to the 'Old City'. Our first stop is the Hippodrome of Constantinople, the centre of Byzantine civic life, where horse and chariot races used to take place. We then travel towards the Blue Mosque, known for the impressive blue tiles lining its walls. The Basilica of Haggia Sophia (Divine Wisdom), now called the Ayasofya Museum, is unquestionably one of the finest buildings of all time. Built by Constantine the Great, it was reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th century. In the afternoon, we visit the famous Topkapi Palace, which was home to the sultans between the 15th and 19th centuries. It is now a museum exhibiting imperial collections of crystal, silver, Chinese porcelain and imperial costumes. Then transfer to the airport for International flight.

Day 6 - AYVALIK / ASSOS / TROY / CANAKKALE / ISTANBUL

We leave this morning for Troas and Assos. Troas was a busy port situated on the north-west coast of Asia Minor. During his stay in Troas, St. Paul had a dream in which he saw a vision of a man asking him to “come over to Macedonia and help us” after which he decided to go to Europe. Assos perched high on a cliff overlooking the Aegean and the Island of Lesbos is breathtaking. Its Acropolis carries the impressive Temple of Athena. Arriving at Assos on foot from Troas, St. Paul preached here and climbed down to the little port on the shore to board the boat on his return journey to Jerusalem. Then we proceed to Troy to see the legendary city and the replica of the Trojan Horse. Drive to Istanbul for overnight.

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel. Than embark the Bosphorus Cruise Boat. A scenic journey along the Bosphorus between two continents, Asia and Europe. Lunch at a sea food restaurant. It is now a museum exhibiting imperial collections of crystal, silver, Chinese porcelain and imperial costumes. Then transfer to the airport for International flight.

Antioch is thought to have been founded in 300 BC. St Peter was the first to preach here, followed by St Paul and Barnabas whose extensive efforts proved to be very fruitful for Christianity. Highlights include the museum which houses a superb collection of mosaics from Antioch, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. St Peter’s Grotto, the cave church, came to be known as the meeting place of the early Christians. The most interesting monument here is the Tunnel of Titus, which is a tremendous canal dug for the purpose of diverting waters from the Orontes River. After an early breakfast, we drive north to Cappadocia. Our first stop is Tarsus, the birthplace of St Paul. Highlights include St Paul’s well and Cleopatra’s Gate. Than second stop is Derinkuyu, an underground city carved into soft rocks resembling a huge labyrinth of tunnels, rooms, kitchens, wine cellars and passageways. This morning we head to Cana where Jesus performed his very first miracle and where the Wedding feast took place. After that, proceed to Nazareth to see the Church of Our Lady Announciation. Lunch in the city of Jericho, the oldest city in the world. (Joshua 6:3-5). We can also view the Mt. Temptation, when the Lord Jesus was tempted by the devil after fasted for 40 days (Matthew 4:1-11). Continue to Qumran (where the deadsea scrolls was found). We proceed to the deadsea to have sometime to float on the water - being the lowest point on the earth’s surface. After breakfast, we start the day with Mt of Olives begining with the Ascension chapel where Jesus ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9-12). Pater Noster, where the Lord taught the “Our Father” prayer. We walk down the “Palm Sunday” to the Church of Dominus Flevit (Luke 19:41-44) where our Lord wept over Jerusalem. Continue to the Garden Gethsemane (Luke 22:52), where our Lord spent the night in agony before His crucifixion. After Lunch, proceed to Mount Zion to visit the Tomb of David, the Last Supper Room (Mk 14:15) where the Lord Jesus and his disciples held the Last Supper. Continue to St Peter Church in Galligantun where St Peter denied Jesus three times (Luke 22:57) before the rooster crows. We finished our day visit to the Garden Tomb, before transfer back to the hotel.

The Seventh Ecumenical Council was also held here in the St Sophia Church, which we will visit. The church was built in the 4th century and has a mosaic floor which dates to the 6th century. On the way visit Pisidian Antioch (Yalvac). During Paul’s time, the population was made up of Jews, Romans and Greeks. Very little is left of Pisidian Antioch today. Dinner and overnight in Konya.

Cappadocia whose effect on the visitor is like that of a village out of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Day 1 - ISTANBUL / NICEA / BURSA

Upon arrival at Istanbul Ataturk Airport in the morning, meet at the airport and drive to embark ferry boat to Yalova. Drive to Iznik, formerly known as Nicea. The city was founded around 1000 BC. In 325 AD, the First Ecumenical Council was held here for the purpose of condemning the heresy of Arianism. The Seventh Ecumenical Council was also held here in the St Sophia Church, which we will visit. The church was built in the 4th century and has a mosaic floor which dates to the 6th century. All gates and walls date from the Byzantine times. Later we proceed to Bursa for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 - BURSA / PERGAMON / THYATIRA / IZMIR

In the morning, drive to the hauntingly beautiful Pergamon. Among the impressive structures of this city, dating from 399 B.C., we will see the Altar of Zeus, Temple of Dionysus and the 200,000 volume library which was surpassed only by that found in Alexandria at the time. Next, we will stop by Thyteria to see the remains of the church. This was one of the principle towns where Christianity spread quickly. Drive to Kusadasi for overnight.

Day 3 - IZMIR / EPHESUS / KUSADASI

After breakfast visit Church of Smyra, Then drive to Selcuk town, we will visit the famous ancient city of Ephesus, one of the world’s finest archaeological sites. Highlights include the Library of Celcius, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan and the Theatre. Then visit the Basilica of St John “the Evangelist” who came here with the Virgin Mary and wrote his Gospel in Ephesus. We will also stop by the House of Virgin Mary (on top of Mt Coressos). She was believed to have spent her last years in this area. On 18 August 1961, Pope John XXII proclaimed this place to be sacred. Overnight in Kusadasi.

The Basilica of Haggia Sophia (Divine Wisdom), now called the Ayasofya Museum, is unquestionably one of the finest buildings of all time. Built by Constantine the Great, it was reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th century. In the afternoon, we visit the famous Topkapi Palace, which was home to the sultans between the 15th and 19th centuries. It is now a museum exhibiting imperial collections of crystal, silver, Chinese porcelain and imperial costumes. After dinner transfer to the airport for flight to home.

DAY 2 - ANTIOCH

Today we journey East to Antioch-on-the- Orontes, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. Antioch is thought to have been founded in 300 BC. First to preach here was St. Peter followed by St. Paul and Barnabas whose extensive efforts proved to be very fruitful for Christianity. Incidentally, the word Christians was first coined in Antioch. The strong and wealthy community of Antioch contributed financially to the Christian community of Jerusalem. Highlights include the museum which houses a superb collection of mosaics from Antioch, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. St. Peter’s Grotto, the cave church came to be known as the meeting place of the early Christians. The next site we will visit is Seleucia Pieria which was the port city of Antioch in ancient days. The most interesting monument here is the Tunnel of Titus which is a tremendous canal dug for the purpose of diverting waters of Orontes river. Another highlight here will be the rock tombs with their impressive facades pertaining to the Hellenistic period.

DAY 3 - ANTIOCH / GAZIANTEP / URFA

After breakfast drive to Gaziantep. Visit of the Archaeology Museum with its artifacts from Neolithic, Hittite and Roman times. There are important mosaics from the ancient site of Zeugma (Belkis). Drive to Urfa. On the way Halfeti boat trip on the Euphrates River. Overnight in Urfa.

DAY 4 - URFA / HARRAN / ADIYAMAN / KAHTA

Today we will visit Urfa, the city of King Abgar the great is believed to have been the first Christian King. According to the popular legend, wicked Nimrod used the columns as a sling to throw Abraham from the mount. Where he prophet fell springs burst from the ground to form pool of Abraham. We will visit this pool full with sacred carps. In a cave here, Job of Urfa lived 7 years as a pauperized leper. In a village named Nebiyob, where the tombs of Job, his wife, and the prophet Elijah are found. Job’s cave has a spring which restored Job’s health and a pavilion on top. In 460 AD, the bishop here found curative properties in this spring water and built a hospital nearby. “And after this Job lived a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, his son’s sons, four generations. And Job died, an old man, and full of days.” (Job 42:16-17). Then We drive to Haran, “Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, Abram’s wife, and went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go onto the land of Canaan: but when they came to Haran, they settled there. The days of Terah were two hundred and five years and Terah died in Haran. (Gen.11:31-32) Haran is the hometown of Abraham, the father of faith for Christians, Jews, and Moslems. God brought him out of Haran as a part of his plan to convert man’s history of sin (Gen.12:1-2). Also known as Padan Aram, Haran remained a spiritual home for Abraham and his descendants. Abraham found his daughter-in-law at Padan Aram (Gen.24:3-43) and Isaac also urged his sin to find a wife in this region. (Gen.28:1-2) Then we drive to Adiyaman city and overnight in Kahta town near by Nemrud mountain.

DAY 5 - KAHTA / NEMRUD / DIYARBAKIR

Today we drive to Nemrud mountain to enjoy the view. The 2100 m high summit of Nemrud lies in the Antitaurus range of mountains. On this summit rises a gigantic tumulus surrounded by terraces and monumental statues which were created in the 1st BC. It was the place of regular pilgrimages and rituals during the time of commagene kingdom. This place is in the list of UNESCO since 1987. On the way back to Kahta, we will stop to visit Karakus funerary columns coming from 1st BC. Then stop on the Roman bridge at Cendere. A single graceful arch carries the road high above the water from 2nd AD. Nimrod (Nemrud) was a part of Assyrian land mentioned in Micah 5:6 (Nimrod being an ally of Assur and Nineveh, Assyria was once called Nimrod (Gen 10:11-12). “They shall rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrud with the drawn sword, and they shall deliver us from the Assyrians when he comes into our land and treads within our border.” (Micah 5:6) On the way to Urfa (Ur&Edessa;), we will stop to see one of the largest rock-filled dam of the world called GAP. The sourse (Firat Nehri) of the Euphrates, one of the four rivers near Eden. Rev. 16:12-16 states that the Euphrates will dry up and cause a great war. It is 169 m high. It is built to irrigate Harran, Mardin, Ceylan pinar plaines. And with its 2400 mw power plant capacity. We drive to Diyarbakir for the night.

DAY 6 - DIYARBAKIR / VAN

On the way to Van, nearest place to the Ararat mountain range ,we will visit Malabadi bridge from 12th AD. Then we drive to lake Van to embark our boat to Akdamar island to visit the monastery to the church of Holy Cross usedby the Armenian Patriach. Overnight in Van city at an altitude of 1727 m.

DAY 7 - VAN / DOGUBEYAZIT

We will start our journey to Mount Ararat. On our way, we will see Muradiye waterfall, then lunch in Dogubeyazit. After lunch, we will visit Ishakpasa palace. Then we will change our bus to mini-buses to continue to the place where it is believed that Noah’s Ark landed. God said to Noah, “Go forth from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and sons’ wives with you. Bring forth with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh-birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth-that may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth.” (Gen.8:15-17) In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day, the ark rested on Mt. Ararat. Waters abated and on the first day of the tenth month, mountain tops were seen.” (Gen.8:4-5) Overnight in Dogubeyazit.

DAY 8 - DOGUBEYAZIT / ERZURUM / TRABZON

Early in the morning, we will check out and drive to Erzurum. Erzurum is the largest city in Eastern Turkey, sprawls on a high plateau at an altitude of 1,950 meters. As you enter the city, the large Aziziye monument commemorating the Turkish- Russian war will catch your eye. The city walls and fortress are reminiscent of the period of Byzantine rule. Erzurum is known for copper crafting and its Oltu stone, which is a unique black stone used to make jewelry and beads. We will visit fine Seljuk monuments such as the Ulu (Great) Mosque, the Cifte Minareli Medrese. After lunch in local kebab restaurant drive to Trabzon city in the Blacksea and overnite.

DAY 9 - TRABZON

Today we will visit to the magnificent Sumela Monastery located high on the cliffs in the Altindere National Park. Two monks from Athens, Sophronius and uncle Barnabas found the monastery of Sumelas in AD 368. They followed the guidance of an icon to a cave in this mountain setting. They believed it had been painted by the Apostle St. Luke. In the 6th century the emperor Justinian ordered a silver reliquary made for the monastery in order to preserve the remains of Barnabas. The church is covered inside and out with brilliant frescos. Then we will visit the St. Sophia museum (restored 13th c Byzantine church with its splendid frescoes). Day 1 - ISTANBUL / BURSA

Upon arrival at Istanbul Ataturk Airport early in the morning, meet at the airport and we drive to the 'Old City'. Our first stop is the Hippodrome of Constantinople, the centre of Byzantine civic life, where horse and chariot races used to take place. We then travel towards the Blue Mosque, known for the impressive blue tiles lining its walls. The Basilica of Haggia Sophia (Divine Wisdom), now called the Ayasofya Museum, is unquestionably one of the finest buildings of all time. Built by Constantine the Great, it was reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th century. After lunch, we visit the famous Topkapi Palace, which was home to the sultans between the 15th and 19th centuries. It is now a museum exhibiting imperial collections of crystal, silver, Chinese porcelain and imperial costumes. Then drive to embark ferry boat to Yalova. Drive to Bursa for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 - BURSA / PERGAMON / THYATIRA / IZMIR

In the morning, drive to the hauntingly beautiful Pergamon. Among the impressive structures of this city, dating from 399 B.C., we will see the Altar of Zeus, Temple of Dionysus and the 200,000 volume library which was surpassed only by that found in Alexandria at the time. Next, we will stop by Thyteria to see the remains of the church. This was one of the principle towns where Christianity spread quickly. Drive to Kusadasi for overnight.

Day 3 - IZMIR / EPHESUS / KUSADASI

After breakfast visit Church of Smyra, Then drive to Selcuk town, we will visit the famous ancient city of Ephesus, one of the world’s finest archaeological sites. Highlights include the Library of Celcius, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan and the Theatre. Then visit the Basilica of St John “the Evangelist” who came here with the Virgin Mary and wrote his Gospel in Ephesus. We will also stop by the House of Virgin Mary (on top of Mt Coressos). She was believed to have spent her last years in this area. On 18 August 1961, Pope John XXII proclaimed this place to be sacred. Overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 4 - KUSADASI / SARDIS / PHILADELPHIA / LAODICEA / PAMUKKALE

After breakfast drive to Sardis whose history dates back to 12th century B.C. Sardis felt the influence of Christianity very early and was included in the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse. During the Byzantine times it was the seat of a bishopric. Highlights will be a Synagogue, Gymnasium, Byzantine Church and the Temple of Artemis. Next on our itinerary is Philadelphia which was an important Christian centre during Byzantine times. Than we will visit Laodicea, where we will find a Theatre, a large Stadium, a Water Tower and an Odeon. This city is supposed to have been named by Antiochus II in honour of his wife, Laodicea. Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale.

Day 5 – PAMUKKALE / YALVAC / KONYA

In the morning we visit Hierapolis, which was founded by Pergamon King Telephons and named after his wife, Hiera. During the Byzantine period, the city became the seat of diocese with a large Christian Church dedicated to St Philip, who was martyred there in 80 AD. Highlights include the Roman Baths, , the Theatre and the famous white calcium cascades of Pamukkale (the white “Cotton Castles”). Then drive to Cappadocia. On the way visit Pisidian Antioch (Yalvac). During Paul’s time, the population was made up of Jews, Romans and Greeks. Very little is left of Pisidian Antioch today. Dinner and overnight in Konya.

Day 6 – KONYA / LYSTRA / DERBE / TARSUS / ANTIOCH

After breakfast we begin our drive to Antioch. On the way we stop at Lystra, also a place that was visited several times by St. Paul. Then we continue on to Derbe, where St. Paul and St. Barnabas preached and won many converts. Last stop at Tarsus, the birthplace of St Paul. Highlights include St Paul’s well and Cleopatra’s Gate. We continue on to Antioch at Orontes and stay the night there.

Day 7 – ANTIOCH / CAPPADOCIA

In the morning, we will visit ancient Antioch. Antioch is thought to have been founded in 300 BC. St Peter was the first to preach here, followed by St Paul and Barnabas whose extensive efforts proved to be very fruitful for Christianity. Highlights include the museum which houses a superb collection of mosaics from Antioch, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. St Peter’s Grotto, the cave church, came to be known as the meeting place of the early Christians. Afternoon drive to Cappadocia. Cappadocia whose effect on the visitor is like that of a village out of Grimm's Fairy Tales. What Turks commonly call "Fairy Chimneys" are jutting pieces of volcanic rocks that have been beaten and shaped by the wind and rain. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8 – CAPPADOCIA (OPTIONAL: HOT AIR BALLOON TOUR early in the morning)

After breakfast, visit Natural Fortress in Uchisar, where you can capture a panoramic view of the beautiful plateau. Next visit Pasabagi in Zelve area where monks used to live in seclusion in rock cut rooms. Then, we visit the Valleys of Goreme to explore the unusual troglodyte dwellings, remains of the early churches comprising complicated rooms hollowed out of the cones of volcanic ash and decorated with scratched frescoes. We will visit Goreme Open Air Museum include the Apple Church, the Church of Sandals, and the Church with a Buckle. Than proceed to the pottery town of Avanos where Kizilirmak (Hallys), the longest river of Turkey, meanders leaving the red clay on its banks that has been the raw material of pottery for centuries. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9 – CAPPADOCIA / ANKARA / BOLU

After breakfast drive to Ankara, on the way visit Serhatli Underground City carved into soft rocks resembling a huge labyrinth of tunnels, rooms, kitchens, wine cellars and passageways. After lunch, visit the Ataturk Mausoleum - symbol of the new Ankara. The mausoleum is a notable example of modern Turkish architecture. The complex comprises a Path of Honor flanked by reclining Hittite lions, a Court of Honor, the Atatürk Mausoleum itself and a museum. Then continue to Bolu for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 – BOLU / ISTANBUL (OPTIONAL: BOSPHORUS CRUISE in Istanbul)

Early in the morning we drive to Istanbul. Afternoon transfer to the airport for flight to home.

Day 1 – ISTANBUL / ADANA / ANTIOCH

Upon arrival at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, we connect directly to a domestic flight to Adana, ancient Cilicia. From there, we make our way to Tarsus, the birthplace of St Paul. Highlights include St Paul’s well and Cleopatra’s Gate. We continue on to Antioch at Orontes and stay the night there.

Day 2 – ANTIOCH

Today, we journey east to Antakya, ancient Antioch. Antioch is thought to have been founded in 300 BC. St Peter was the first to preach here, followed by St Paul and Barnabas whose extensive efforts proved to be very fruitful for Christianity. Highlights include the museum which houses a superb collection of mosaics from Antioch, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. St Peter’s Grotto, the cave church, came to be known as the meeting place of the early Christians. The most interesting monument here is the Tunnel of Titus, which is a tremendous canal dug for the purpose of diverting waters from the Orontes River. Another highlight is the rock tombs with their impressive facades pertaining to the Hellenistic period.

Day 3 – ANTIOCH / CAPPADOCIA

After an early breakfast, we drive north to Cappadocia. Our first stop is Derinkuyu, an underground city carved into soft rocks resembling a huge labyrinth of tunnels, rooms, kitchens, wine cellars and passageways. A huge chimney ventilates this 8-level dwelling, which was used by Christians hiding from their Roman and Byzantine persecutors. Their colourful frescoes remain as vibrant as when they were first made. Further on, we come to Cappadocia, which reminds the visitor of a village out of Grimm’s Fairy Tales.

Day 4 – CAPPADOCIA

In the morning, we visit the Valleys of Goreme to explore the unusual troglodyte dwellings, remains of the early churches comprising complicated rooms hollowed out of the cones of volcanic ash and decorated with scratched frescoes. We will visit the Apple Church, the Church of Sandals, and the Church with a Buckle in Goreme. Next stops are Ortahisar and Pasabagi where monks used to live in seclusion in rock cut rooms.

Day 5 – CAPPADOCIA / KONYA

After breakfast check-out from the hotel and proceed to the pottery town of Avanos where Kizilirmak (Hallys), the longest river of Turkey, meanders leaving the red clay on its banks that has been the raw material of pottery for centuries. After lunch drive to Konya, on the way visit to the 13th century Seljukian masterpiece Sultanhan Caravanserai.

Day 6 – KONYA / PAMUKKALE

After breakfast we will drive to Pisidian Antioch (Yalvac) where St. Paul opened Christianity to the world. Yalvac’s history goes back to 280 B.C. During St. Paul’s time the population was a mixture of Jews, Romans and Greeks. Very little is left of Pisidian Antioch today. There is the propylaea of the acropolis with a number of carved stones and the remains of a Byzantine church. Then drive to Pamukkale. Upon arrival we visit Hierapolis which was founded by Pergamon king Telephos and named after his wife Hiera. During the Byzantine period the city became the seat of diocese with a large Christian Church dedicated to St. Philip, martyred here in 80 A.D. Highlights include the Roman Baths, the Temple of Apollo and the Theater.

Day 7 – PAMUKKALE / LAODICEA / SARDIS / KUSADASI

After breakfast visit to Laodicea where we find here two Theaters, a large Stadium, a Water Tower and an Odeon. The city is named by Antiochus II in honor of his wife, Laodicea. We leave for Bursa. On the way visit a glimpse at one of the Churches of Revelation in Izmir (Smyrna). Then we drive to Thyteria to see the remains of the church. This was one of the principle towns where Christianity spread quickly. Then we will stop by hauntingly beautiful Pergamum which rises high on a hill as one nears the city of Bergama. Highlights will include the Altar of Zeus, Temple of Trojan and the Theater.

Day 10 – BURSA / IZNIK / ISTANBUL

After breakfast, we leave Bursa and drive to Iznik, formerly known as Nicea. The city was founded around 1000 BC. In 325 AD, the First Ecumenical Council was held here for the purpose of condemning the heresy of Arianism. The Seventh Ecumenical Council was also held here in the St Sophia Church, which we will visit. The church was built in the 4th century and has a mosaic floor which dates to the 6th century. All gates and walls date from the Byzantine times. Later we proceed to Istanbul. Visit Topkapi Palace, which was home to the sultans between the 15th and 19th centuries. It is now a museum exhibiting imperial collections of crystal, silver, Chinese porcelain and imperial costumes. Lastly, we will visit to the aromatic Spice Bazaar, where the smells of cinnamon, cloves and thyme, rise from hundreds of colorful muslin bags at every store-front.

Day 11 – ISTANBUL

Following breakfast, we take the Bosphorus cruise to enjoy the unique experience of cruising between 2 continents, Asia and Europe. After lunch, we will travel to the St. Sophia (Divine Wisdom), now called the Ayasofya Museum. Built by Constantine the Great, it was reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th century and is unquestionably one of the finest buildings of all time. Then we will visit Underground Basilica Cistern and Hippodrome of Constantinople, the centre of Byzantine civic life, where horse and chariot races used to take place. Departure transfer to the airport for flight to home.

Upon arrival to Istanbul, we continue to Adana with our connected flight and drive to Gaziantep. Visit of the Archaeology Museum with its artifacts from Neolithic, Hittite and Roman times. There are important mosaics from the ancient site of Zeugma (Belkis). Overnight in Gaziantep.

Day 2 - GAZIANTEP / URFA

After breakfast drive to Urfa. On the way Halfeti boat trip on the Euphrates River. We embark upon a boat ride on the Euphrates River, including a cruise around the Roman fortress of Rumkale, where St. John the Apostle is said to have written his Gospel. Afternoon we will visit Urfa, the city of King Abgar the great is believed to have been the first Christian King. According to the popular legend, wicked Nimrod used the columns as a sling to throw Abraham from the mount. Where he prophet fell springs burst from the ground to form pool of Abraham. We will visit this pool full with sacred carps. In a cave here, Job of Urfa lived 7 years as a pauperized leper. In a village named Nebiyob, where the tombs of Job, his wife, and the prophet Elijah are found. Job’s cave has a spring which restored Job’s health and a pavilion on top. In 460 AD, the bishop here found curative properties in this spring water and built a hospital nearby. “And after this Job lived a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, his son’s sons, four generations. And Job died, an old man, and full of days.” (Job 42:16-17). Overnight in Urfa. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - URFA / HARRAN / ADIYAMAN

After breakfast, drive to Haran, “Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, Abram’s wife, and went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go onto the land of Canaan: but when they came to Haran, they settled there. The days of Terah were two hundred and five years and Terah died in Haran. (Gen.11:31-32) Haran is the hometown of Abraham, the father of faith for Christians, Jews, and Moslems. God brought him out of Haran as a part of his plan to convert man’s history of sin (Gen.12:1-2). Also known as Padan Aram, Haran remained a spiritual home for Abraham and his descendants. Abraham found his daughter-in-law at Padan Aram (Gen.24:3-43) and Isaac also urged his sin to find a wife in this region. (Gen.28:1- 2). Then we drive to Adiyaman. On the way, we will stop to see one of the largest rock-filled dam of the world called GAP. The sourse (Firat Nehri) of the Euphrates, one of the four rivers near Eden. Rev. 16:12-16 states that the Euphrates will dry up and cause a great war. It is 169 m high. It is built to irrigate Harran, Mardin, Ceylan pinar plaines. And with its 2400 mw power plant capacity. Day 4 - ADIYAMAN / NEMRUD / DIYARBAKIR

Early in the morning drive to Nemrud mountain to enjoy the view. The 2100 m high summit of Nemrud lies in the Antitaurus range of mountains. On this summit rises a gigantic tumulus surrounded by terraces and monumental statues which were created in the 1st BC. It was the place of regular pilgrimages and rituals during the time of commagene kingdom. This place is in the list of UNESCO since 1987. On the way to Diyarbakir, we will stop to visit Karakus funerary columns coming from 1st BC. Then stop on the Roman bridge at Cendere. A single graceful arch carries the road high above the water from 2nd AD. Nimrod (Nemrud) was a part of Assyrian land mentioned in Micah 5:6 (Nimrod being an ally of Assur and Nineveh, Assyria was once called Nimrod (Gen 10:11-12). “They shall rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrud with the drawn sword, and they shall deliver us from the Assyrians when he comes into our land and treads within our border.” (Micah 5:6). Day 5 - DIYARBAKIR / MARDIN / DIYARBAKIR

In the morning drive to Mardin. Our tour starts visiting the Mardin Museum. Travelling around the city; we will view the castles, the stone houses and old bazaars. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. After lunch we will continue our way by visiting; Mor Yusuf Church (Surp Hosvep) and Deyru zaffaran Monastery (Mor Hananya). Drive back to Diyarbakir for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - DIYARBAKIR / VAN

On the way to Van, nearest place to the Ararat mountain range ,we will visit Malabadi bridge from 12th AD.. Van; the ancient Urartian capital of Tuspa, is situated in a green, fertile oasis in the midst of rocky mountains. Overnight in Van city at an altitude of 1727 m. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - VAN

We begin our tour by visiting Van castle the carved steps into rock will take us to the fortress; the Urartian royal tombs are of interest in this fortress and the surrounding area is full of Urartian remains. The Archaeological Museum in the new city exhibits the Urartian finds. Lunch in a local restaurant. Time to visit the beautiful 10th century Armenian Church of Akdamar on an island in the lake before heading to the Hittite city of Cavustepe. Back to Van for stay overnight after visiting a small bazaar for kilims (rugs) and other weaving products. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - VAN / DOGUBEYAZIT

We will start our journey to Mount Ararat. On our way, we will see Muradiye Waterfall, then lunch in Dogubeyazit. After lunch, we will visit Ishakpasa Palace. Then drive to Mt.Ararat, we will change our bus to mini-buses to continue to the place where it is believed that Noah’s Ark landed. God said to Noah, “Go forth from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and sons’ wives with you. Bring forth with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh-birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth-that may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth.”(Gen.8:15-17) In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day, the ark rested on Mt. Ararat. Waters abated and on the first day of the tenth month, mountain tops were seen.” (Gen.8:4-5). Overnight in Dogubeyazit. (B,L,D)

Day 9 - DOGUBEYAZIT / MT.ARARAT / KARS

After breakfast drive to Mt.Ararat, we will change our bus to mini-buses to continue to the place where it is believed that Noah’s Ark landed. God said to Noah, “Go forth from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and sons’ wives with you. Bring forth with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh-birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth-that may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth.” (Gen.8:15-17) In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day, the ark rested on Mt. Ararat. Waters abated and on the first day of the tenth month, mountain tops were seen.” (Gen.8:4-5). Then drive to Kars. Day 10 - KARS / ERZURUM

After breakfast visit the ancient city of Ani and its churches. View of Arpa River, which forms the border to Armenia. Then drive to Erzurum. Erzurum is the largest city in Eastern Turkey, sprawls on a high plateau at an altitude of 1,950 meters. As you enter the city, the large Aziziye monument commemorating the Turkish-Russian war will catch your eye. The city walls and fortress are reminiscent of the period of Byzantine rule. Erzurum is known for copper crafting and its Oltu stone, which is a unique black stone used to make jewelry and beads. We will visit fine Seljuk monuments such as the Ulu (Great) Mosque, the Cifte Minareli Medrese. Overnight in Erzurum. (B,L,D)

Day 11 - ERZURUM / TRABZON

After an early breakfast drive to Trabzon. Today we will visit to the magnificent Sumela Monastery located high on the cliffs in the Altindere National Park. Two monks from Athens, Sophronius and uncle Barnabas found the monastery of Sumelas in AD 368. They followed the guidance of an icon to a cave in this mountain setting. They believed it had been painted by the Apostle St. Luke. In the 6th century theemperor Justinian ordered a silver reliquary made for the monastery in order to preserve the remains of Barnabas. The church is covered inside and out with brilliant frescos. Then we will visit the St. Sophia museum (restored 13th c Byzantine church with its splendid frescoes). Overnight in Trabzon. (B,L,D)

Day 12 - TRABZON / ISTANBUL / DEPARTURE

Free until transfer time. Transfer to the airport our flight to Istanbul. Then connection flight to home.

Cicero was a governor here in 51-50 BC. and the romantic meeting between Cleopatra and Mark Anthony took place in Tarsus. Highlights here will be St. Paul’s well and Cleopatra’s Gate. Drive to Antioch at Orontes for a good night rest.

Incidentally, the word Christians was first coined in Antioch. The strong and wealthy community of Antioch contributed financially to the Christian community of Jerusalem. Highlights include the museum which houses a superb collection of mosaics from Antioch, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. St. Peter’s Grotto, the cave church came to be known as the meeting place of the early Christians. The next site we will visit is Seleucia Pieria which was the port city of Antioch in ancient days. The most interesting monument here is the Tunnel of Titus which is a tremendous canal dug for the purpose of diverting waters of Orontes river. Another highlight here will be the rock tombs with their impressive facades pertaining to the Hellenistic period. Dinner and overnight in Antioch.

Today we visit the Göreme Valley to visit the rock carved churches hollowed out of volcanic ash. Then picture steps will be given at the Valley of the Birds and at the foot of the Uchisar Castle. Also time will be allocated for the local souvenir shopping before returning to the hotel. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 7 – PAMUKKALE / SARDIS / KUSADASI

After breakfast visit to Laodicea where we find here two Theaters, a large Stadium, a Water Tower and an Odeon. The city is named by Antiochus II in honor of his wife, Laodicea. St. Paul wrote a letter to the church here (Acts:4:16). Than we drive to Sardis whose history dates back to 12th century B.C. Sardis felt the influence of Christianity very early and was included in the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse. During the Byzantine times it was the seat of a bishopric. Highlights will be a Synagogue, Gymnasium, Byzantine Church and the Temple of Artemis. Drive to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 – KUSADASI / PATMOS ISLAND / KUSADASI

Early morning, we embark on a chartered boat for a 3 hrs ride to Patmos Island. The local guide will meet us at the port and then drive up to the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist, where we have a wonderful view of the island. We also visit the Grotto of the Revelation where the heavenly voice of God revealed to St. John the future of humanity (Rev. 1:12-21). Day 9 – KUSADASI / EPHESUS / IZMIR

After breakfast visit the famous city of Ephesus. Our tour begin with the Basilica of St. John “the Evangelist” who came here with the Virgin Mary and wrote his Gospel in Ephesus. The Temple of Artemis, considered as on the Seven Wonders of the World, was located here. St. Paul’s preachings in the area resulted with the uproar of the Guild of Silversmiths and eventually the whole population of Ephesus. Highlights include the Library of Celcius, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan and the Theater. We will also stop by the House of Virgin Mary closeby, where she is reputed to have spent her last years and died. Followed by the famous local carpet shows allowing ample time for shopping in the afternoon, than drive to Izmir for dinner and overnight.

On our way to Assos this morning we will stop by hauntingly beautiful Pergamum which rises high on a hill as one nears the city of Bergama. Highlights will include the Altar of Zeus, Temple of Trojan and the Theater. Coming down the mountain we will stop by Asclepion, a leading health center of the ancient world.

Day 11 – ASSOS / (Troas-Assos) / TROY / BURSA

We leave this morning for Troas and Assos. Troas was a busy port situated on the north-west coast of Asia Minor. During his stay in Troas, St. Paul had a dream in which he saw a vision of a man asking him to “come over to Macedonia and help us” after which he decided to go to Europe. Assos perched high on a cliff overlooking the Aegean and the Island of Lesbos is breathtaking. Its Acropolis carries the impressive Temple of Athena. Arriving at Assos on foot from Troas, St. Paul preached here and climbed down to the little port on the shore to board the boat on his return journey to Jerusalem. Then we proceed to Troy to see the legendary city and the replica of the Trojan Horse. Drive to Bursa for overnight.

Day 12 – BURSA / (Iznik/Nicea) / ISTANBUL

After the breakfast, We leave Bursa to Nicea . The city was founded around 1000 B.C. In 325, the First Ecumenical Council was held here for the purpose of condemning the heresy of Arianism. The Seventh Ecumenical Council was also held here in the St. Sophia Church. The church was built in the 4th century and has a mosaic floor which dates to the 6th century. All gates and walls date back from the Byzantine times. In the late afternoon , we drive to the pier to embark the Bosphorus Cruise Boat. A scenic journey along the Bosphorus between two continents, Asia and Europe. The hike takes about three hours: the first hour or so is uphill. As we hike, our gulet sails around to meet us in a spectacular cove which shelters the sunken baths of Cleopatra, built for her by Mark Antony. Legend says that Antony gave Cleopatra the entire Turquoise Coast as a wedding gift - a present fit for a queen. This is another excellent place to swim, if you feel so inclined. (B/L/D)

Day 13 – ISTANBUL Departure

This morning, we drive to the Old City of Istanbul and begin our full day visit starting with Topkapi Palace Museum followed by lunch. Thereafter, the so called Blue Mosque, because of the impressive blue tiles lining its walls, St.Sophia Museum. Time permit, we will drop by the Spice Bazaar, where the smells of cinnamon, cloves and thyme rise from hundreds of colourful muslin bags at every store-front. After breakfast transfer to the domestic airport for flight to Kayseri. Upon arrival drive to Cappadocia. On the way stop is Derinkuyu, an underground city carved into soft rocks resembling a huge labyrinth of tunnels, rooms, kitchens, wine cellars and passageways. A huge chimney ventilates this 8-level dwelling, which was used by Christians hiding from their Roman and Byzantine persecutors. Their colourful frescoes remain as vibrant as when they were first made. Further on, we come to Cappadocia, which reminds the visitor of a village out of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 3 CAPPADOCIA / KONYA (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

In the morning, we visit the Valleys of Goreme to explore the unusual troglodyte dwellings, remains of the early churches comprising complicated rooms hollowed out of the cones of volcanic ash and decorated with scratched frescoes. We will visit the Apple Church, the Church of Sandals, and the Church with a Buckle in Goreme. Next stops are Ortahisar and Avanos. Drive to Konya for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 KONYA / PAMUKKALE (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Following breakfast, we drive to Pisidian Antioch (Yalvac). During Paul’s time, the population was made up of Jews, Romans and Greeks. Very little is left of Pisidian Antioch today. Thereafter, we proceed to Pamukkale and we visit Hierapolis, which was founded by Pergamon King Telephons and named after his wife, Hiera. During the Byzantine period, the city became the seat of diocese with a large Christian Church dedicated to St Philip, who was martyred there in 80 AD. Highlights include the Roman Baths, the Temple of Apollo, the Theatre and the famous white calcium cascades of Pamukkale (the white “Cotton Castles”). Overnight in Pamukkale.

In the morning, we visit Laodicea, where we will find a Theatre, a large Stadium, a Water Tower and an Odeon. This city is supposed to have been named by Antiochus II in honour of his wife, Laodicea. Then we drive to the famous city of Ephesus, one of the world’s finest archaeological sites. Our tour will begin with the Basilica of St John “the Evangelist” who came here with the Virgin Mary and wrote his Gospel in Ephesus. The Temple of Artemis, considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of Antiquity, was located here. Then we drive to Sardis which holds a prominent place in mythology. Sardis felt the influence of the Seven Churches of Revelation and highlights include the 3rd century A.D. Synagogue, Gymnasium, House of Bronzes, Temple of Artemis, and of course the Church. Next on our itinerary is Philadelphia which was an important Christian centre during Byzantine times. After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Adana, ancient Cilicia. Than, we journey east to Antakya, ancient Antioch. Antioch is thought to have been founded in 300 BC. St Peter was the first to preach here, followed by St Paul and Barnabas whose extensive efforts proved to be very fruitful for Christianity. Highlights include the museum which houses a superb collection of mosaics from Antioch, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. St Peter’s Grotto, the cave church, came to be known as the meeting place of the early Christians. The most interesting monument here is the Tunnel of Titus, which is a tremendous canal dug for the purpose of diverting waters from the Orontes River. DAY 2 - ISTANBUL / ADANA / ANTIOCH

After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Adana, ancient Cilicia. Than, we journey east to Antakya, ancient Antioch. Antioch is thought to have been founded in 300 BC. St Peter was the first to preach here, followed by St Paul and Barnabas whose extensive efforts proved to be very fruitful for Christianity. Highlights include the museum which houses a superb collection of mosaics from Antioch, Daphne and Seleucia Pieria. St Peter’s Grotto, the cave church, came to be known as the meeting place of the early Christians. The most interesting monument here is the Tunnel of Titus, which is a tremendous canal dug for the purpose of diverting waters from the Orontes River. DAY 3 - ANTIOCH/CAPPADOCIA

After an early breakfast, we drive north to Cappadocia. Our first stop is Tarsus, the birthplace of St Paul. Highlights include St Paul’s well and Cleopatra’s Gate. Than second stop is Derinkuyu, an underground city carved into soft rocks resembling a huge labyrinth of tunnels, rooms, kitchens, wine cellars and passageways. A huge chimney ventilates this 8-level dwelling, which was used by Christians hiding from their Roman and Byzantine persecutors. Their colourful frescoes remain as vibrant as when they were first made. Further on, we come to Cappadocia, which reminds the visitor of a village out of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 4 - CAPPADOCIA / KONYA

In the morning, we visit the Valleys of Goreme to explore the unusual troglodyte dwellings, remains of the early churches comprising complicated rooms hollowed out of the cones of volcanic ash and decorated with scratched frescoes. We will visit the Apple Church, the Church of Sandals, and the Church with a Buckle in Goreme. Next stops are Ortahisar and Avanos. Drive to Konya for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 - KONYA / PAMUKKALE

Following breakfast, we drive to Pisidian Antioch (Yalvac). During Paul’s time, the population was made up of Jews, Romans and Greeks. Very little is left of Pisidian Antioch today. Thereafter, we proceed to Pamukkale and stay the night there. Overnight in Pamukkale.

Day 6 - PAMUKKALE / HIERAPOLIS-LAODICEA-SARDIS-KUSADASI

In the morning, we visit Hierapolis, which was founded by Pergamon King Telephons and named after his wife, Hiera. During the Byzantine period, the city became the seat of diocese with a large Christian Church dedicated to St Philip, who was martyred there in 80 AD. Highlights include the Roman Baths, the Temple of Apollo, the Theatre and the famous white calcium cascades of Pamukkale (the white “Cotton Castles”).Then, we visit Laodicea, where we will find a Theatre, a large Stadium, a Water Tower and an Odeon. This city is supposed to have been named by Antiochus II in honour of his wife, Laodicea. Next stop will be on Sardis which holds a prominent place in mythology. Sardis felt the influence of the Seven Churches of Revelation and highlights include the 3rd century A.D. Synagogue, Gymnasium, House of Bronzes, Temple of Artemis, and of course the Church. Day 7 - KUSADASI / EPHESUS / KUSADASI

Following an early breakfast, we drive to the famous city of Ephesus, one of the world’s finest archaeological sites. Our tour will begin with the Basilica of St John “the Evangelist” who came here with the Virgin Mary and wrote his Gospel in Ephesus. The Temple of Artemis, considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of Antiquity, was located here. Highlights include the Library of Celcius, the Temple of Hadrian, the Fountain of Trajan and the Theatre. We will also stop by the House of Virgin Mary (on top of Mt Coressos). She was believed to have spent her last years in this area. On 18 August 1961, Pope John XXII proclaimed this place to be sacred. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 8 - KUSADASI / PERGAMON / CANAKKALE

Drive north to the hauntingly beautiful Pergamon. We will stop by Thyteria to see the remains of the church. This was one of the principle towns where Christianity spread quickly. Pergamon, among the impressive structures of this city, dating from 399 B.C., we will see the Altar of Zeus, Temple of Dionysus and the 200,000 volume library which was surpassed only by that found in Alexandria at the time. Dinner and overnight in Canakkale.

Day 9 - CANAKKALE / GREECE BORDER / KAVALA

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Greece Border. Cross to Greece side at around 11:30. Meet on the Greece side of the border and walk to the coach. Depart and drive via the first Greek town, Alexandroupolis. Continue along the coast to Kavala, Biblical Neapolis. Drive to and visit Philippi. See the remains of the Agora, the Octagon, the remains of the 2 Basilicas and St. Paul’s prison. Completing the tour, drive to Kavala. Dinner and overnight in Kavala hotel.

The local guide will meet us at the port and then drive up to the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist, where we have a wonderful view of the island. Day 11 - KAVALA – THESSALONIKI (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner )

Breakfast at the hotel. If not done, visit Philippi. Continue along the coast to Greece’s second city, Thessaloniki. Proceed on tour. See the White Tower, (the symbol of the city), the Via Egnatia, the Church of St. Dimitrios, the Rotunda and visit the archaeological museum. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki hotel.

Day 12 - THESSALONIKI – KALAMBAKA (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner )

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive south, into central Greece, to Kalambaka, the town nestling at the foot of Meteora. On the way, visit the mountain town of Veria. See the spot from where St. Paul preached the gospel. Continue onto Kalambaka. Arrive in Kalambaka. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka hotel.

Day 13 - KALAMBAKA (METEORA) – DELPHI (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner )

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Meteora with its impressive scenery, visit 2 monasteries, suspended between earth and sky. Inside, see priceless historical and religious treasures. Depart for Delphi, the navel of the earth. Dinner and overnight in Delphi hotel.

Day 14 - DELPHI – ATHENS - ATHENS SIGHTSEEING TOUR (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner )

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to and visit the archaeological site of Delphi. On the slopes of Mt. Parnassus, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. See and visit the Doric Temple, the Treasury of the Athenians and see Castalia Spring. Visit also the museum holding masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture such as the bronze charioteer. On the way back to Athens, passing the mountain village of Arachova, Levadia and the town of Thebes. Arrive in the early afternoon in Athens and proceed on your Half Day City Tour. With an official English Speaking Guide, see Syntagma Square, (Constitution Square), the House of Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by the Evzones in their traditional costume. See the Athens Academy and the University. Stop at the Pan Athenaic Olympic stadium, (where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896). Continue to and visit Ancient Corinth. See the Bema, the Temple of Apollo, the remains of the Agora, and Pyrene Fountain. Drive on to Mycenae, the Homeric city of Agammemnon. (The leader of the Troy War). Visit the Lion’s Gate, the Cyclopean Walls and the Royal Tomb. Continue to Nafplion and see this charming town. Return to Athens and transfer to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight in Athens Hotel.
